The turnout for Thursday's hearing was o.k. , but it could have been better. Anyone who is concerned about this should take 2 hours out of their lives and attend the 5:30 p.m. hearing on August 16. @ the Planning Commission Hearing room , 123 E Anapamu. Come on beachgoers , get off your duffs! This is our chance to tell them no and possibly derail this bad proposal.

If you can't get to the meeting, at least fill out the survey and state your views: http://www.countyofsb.org/parks/parks01.aspx?id=40063 A couple of notes about the survey: Some of the questions seem slanted. One asks how much you're willing to pay. There is no clear option for "zero" -- unless you check "other" and then add "zero." And it seems the survey can only be taken once on a computer. If there are multiple users of a computer, it looks like the others can't participate.

The Summerland businesses are right. Many people buy their lunches take out from them and then go sit in the park to eat them. They might not even buy the lunches if they couldn't do that without paying for it. CRAZY BUREAUCRATS just don't think of the whole picture when they consider these things.
