Perhaps the Veterans site could be brought into Trust as a South Coastal Cultural Museum site.

uhh... sorry #330- this is ALREADY THE VETERANS BUILDING.....nothing changes that fact. The idea that private developers [aka: the Blankenships] wanted to do more for a military museum is SEPARATE from the VETS BUILDING

Many are confusing the Coastal Chumash with the Santa Ynez, for whom your obvious hatred shows. We are the Natives who`ve never left our sacred home & who keep our ceremonies alive,to the best of our ability...without casino assistance. We have never hurt you in any way,but your blood-lust blinds you to who we are & what we do. Santa Barbara is very spiritually sick, & we could heal her tremendously if allowed & with the help of her citizenry...but the anger must stop or there`s nothing we can do & SB will continue to rot from the inside as she`s been doing, & your disdain for anyone who has more than you in this life only feeds the disease. America`s hatred for Native peoples is what`s killing her. Consider this...there`s only ONE Earth, & YOU live here too.

Everyone stop building now. No more progress. In fact, we should remove all existing buildings. It's obvious a mistake was made and the city was built where others used to live and bury their people. Let's not hide the facts and pretend it's not true. The entire pennesula is a grave yard to people of yesteryear. Stop all building, progress and productivity now....

Thank you 356!!! There is a huge difference between the 2 tribes, just like 200 years ago hence the term Dos Pueblos (2 villages) the Valencia families (still local) grandmother was the Chumash speaking elder that you used to hear at the SB natural history museum, but has nothing to do with the casino or its profits.

I think the Veterans Center would be a great location for a casino. Let's build one there, then put one in Chapala One, put one in the old Alpha Thrift store, then kick out the homeless and put one in where Casa Esperanza is.

13 words used in a comment related to a race of people. 2 of those words,"they", was used in context referring to mentioned people. I smell something that stinks, hidden away along a coast, far from MISSISSIPPI....

There are artifacts and bones all over the that area. Burton circle is well known as as site. Also have been told that the hotel on the corner of Cabrillio and Castillio started a remodel of the area where the restaurant was, some artifacts were seen so that project is dead in the water. projects in the area may require a archeological monitor in addition to the rest of permits, architectural, costal commission, flood blah, blah, blah. That gets spendy.

If the Chumash cared so much about their ancestors, why don't they know where they are all buried? Seems like something you might mark, commemorate, maybe tell the next generation...that is, if they really cared. This has always confused me, since they make such a big deal about disturbing the bones.

My understanding is that it was all marked but the white man built over it anyway..

356 here..I aint mad at you either Roger & I extend an invite to Painted Cave any time you want to go. To all others, wow, the hatred in your bodies is going to kill you..Let me tell you what you could find amongst Native peoples, especially us Coastals...friendship,warmth,food,gifts,conversation,protection,hope,love,healing,song & life...but why would anyone want to extend such pleasures to those who hate so deeply, & for no reason? You know what you`ll find on every reservation across Amer.? Stockpiles of: Food, water, seeds, ammo, livestock, medicine & petrol....guess why....correct. Choose your friends wisely. Roger, my invite is sincere..Peter.

How can anyone say the Chumash should have their graves marked? Get real! The Native Americans were here thousands of years before the Europeans came to steal their land. Even if they had headstones, they'd have been destroyed like the ones the Los Angeles Archdioese of the Catholic Church did to the cemetary in Montecito. Whoosh, gone! I can't believe the ugly comments about this subject.
