They look better than ever without the dated framing they had. Maybe they'll look great in the next new airport.

12 years ago, I met my husband of 10 years at this Vons. They're tearing down our history. 3 cest la vie!

They do look better! Who would've thought? There are so many murals in this town that have been painted over or demolished. To have saved them and placed them in the right location, would have been a way to celebrate Santa Barbara's unique and artistic history, which does not get the attention that it has always deserved.

Great that they saved them - but where are they going to put them?

The murals will be installed on the Chapala Street side of the new market building, so they're not travelling far. They're the work of Joseph Knowles, a popular local artist.

They are where they are going. They are on a new concrete foundation with stubbed out rebar for later completion of the move.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE that they saved this mural! We really need to pay more attention and preserve our arhitectural history. Big kudos to whoever is behind this move. Thank you.

Yes, where you see them in these photos is where they will remain.

Funny they put them behind the Arlington. I think tonight when I take out the trash, I'll put the cans in front of my neigbors house. Saving these ugly paintings is lame. Especially the portion that has the sack bearing woman toiling for food with her man standing next to her watching her work as he holds what could be a spear or oar. Or the famous one with a priest next to his enslaved Chumash builders. Thank god they gave these slaves a casino in reparations for such atrocities! Oh wait.... The band of chusmash with a casino are the ones who fleed enslavement. My bad.

Last time I checked none of the Chumash benefiting from the casino are that old.
