One of us does...the other one is on an ever-constant quest for the perfect night action shot in SB...some nights that means little sleep. Peter actually keeps trying to get me to do a piece "What's Happening on the Streets of SB at 4:00 am"...not sure if he thinks it would be interesting or that it would be a public service for the other unusually inquisitive ones amongst us. So far, I've opted for sleep.

@712 - for your benefit, here is the definition of prurient: pru·ri·ent/'pro?ore?nt/ Adjective: Having or encouraging an excessive interest in sexual matters. Do you think fires are sexy? It seems like you do. Me thinks you need to seek professional help. News is news and some of us appreciate being able to read it. If you don't like this website, why are you looking at it? If it's a story about a fire or "the misfortunes of others" and it arouses you, don't open it!

I'm guessing George Washington Smith, an amazing architect, was rolling over in his grave in Friday the13th...and what do you know? A couple of hours later his once simply lovely house was aflame. Sometimes less is more, and GWS was one promote that idea in Santa Barbara . A burned home is always a tragedy, but my guess is that this home was not occupied, and was staged for sale at an excessive price in a really lousy real estate market. I sincerely hope no one's personal and sentimental belongings were lost in the fire and that it was just a lot of faux furnishings to make a spec home look lived in.

721: Prurient can also just mean excessive in a sort of unwholesome way, not necessarily with a sexual connotation. BTW, "methinks" is one word, although it's best to avoid its use altogether unless one want to come across as a scolding would-be pedant.
