I would be irritated too if someone was videoing me if I was in a fender-bender - even if I was not drinking and driving. I wonder what the motivation was behind the videoing? Was it simply because she is famous? Did they think that maybe they could sell the video to, hmmm, TMZ?

385p If their motivation was to sell the video to TMZ don't you think we would have seen the video right after the accident happened? I doubt 90% of people in town would actually recognize her if she did run into them. I did hear the people asking for her insurance on the video, my guess and just one opinion, they may have been taping it to protect themselves and document her condition.

Well, she did receive preferential treatment from the cops. Must be nice. I met a woman who had slogged down 2 bottles of wine and the cops let her bf pick her up as "professional courtesy" because she was a social worker. Awesome Santa Barbara.

432s comment is right on.....most people who are finally caught have driven drunk many times. It's the law of averages when you finally get caught. It's rarely a one time incident. Glad they finally caught her. Celebrities, even if they are only a cook, sometimes start feeling above the law. Too bad they didn't have the immediate mug shot, bet she didn't look quite so cute. Strange that should even be commented on, if she had killed someone or been in a horrible accident that cute face wouldn't exist anymore.

Harsh - harsh - harsh! People, settle down! Yes, she drank way too much and did a very irresponsible thing. If it were part of a pattern of bad behavior, then have at her. But she just exercised poor judgment once - and is paying a significant price for it. But for the grace of you-know-who this could have been me once or twice. I am not justifying anything - just saying this is not calculated criminal behavior, just warped judgment brought on by too much booze. And if I were that wasted I'd probably look and sound pretty bad in a video too. I hope she learns and rebounds from this ordeal. I wish her well.

I saw the video and she acted like anyone should when someone videotapes them without permission. Her speech was a little thick bit not slurred. She is an exceptionally talented chef, mom and philanthropist who made a poor decision that many decent people make from time to time. Chances are everyone on this thread has done it at least once. And we've all done stupid things. That's called being human. We can all be glad that no one got hurt just like when an accident between sober people causes no injuries. Give Cat a break. She's paying a bigger price for this due to her celebrity than any of the rest of would. It's now time to snark on someone else, gang.

596, I am curious what "big price" has she paid? I doubt more than 5% of her "fans" have even heard about this incident. If they have your attitude that it is "no biggie", I am sure it does not bother these "fans". I find it interesting YOU think she does not look that bad in the video. I guess you think blowing .19 and .20 and being over twice the legal limit is not so bad because we have all done it. With your attitude it is no wonder offenders and repeat offenders get off with a slap on the wrist until they actually kill someone. Of course, then it is too late.

612, her embarassing mistake is a national story! She is now the object of criticism of tens of millions of smug 612's who apparently think that the criminal law should be purely vengeful (for the victims of horrific accidents; which this one was not) and without a mention of criminal intent. If 612 gets caught - and, believe me, 612's often do - chances are no one will ever know or care.

I like Cat Cora, as a chef, mom, and local celebrity who is involved in our community. That said, I think the tough love approach is best with anyone who would drive down the pass in that condition....they treated her differently than us, and I don't think it was the right thing to do in this case. She made a really stupid, selfish decision to get behind the wheel and put others at risk, she needed the tough love method to send home the message. I hope she is true to her word and never does it again, but when you're constantly shielded and pampered, you may not get the true sense of your own stupidity. For her families sake, and for the rest of the driving public, I hope she learns something.

I think it's interesting that she had 10 days to prepare for her mug shot. Most of us, if we get arrested for DUI, will have the mug shot taken immediately following the arrest and the mug shot will usually provide a little insight into the condition of the individual. Clearly she received special treatment.
