Right next to the CHP office. I can see them buzzing that roundabout at 90MPH.

They keep trying, eventually drivers in this town will figure out how a round about works.

Culvert work taking 1 year. More crock. Have fun with the roundy. I'm sure it will all turn out swell.

Seems pretty unnecessary. Anytime I've been over there, there's not been more than two cars. What a waste of money. If they want to do something to alleviate traffic then do something about the traffic on Fairview that backs up the hump over the freeway-- now there's a nightmare. Or even worse the Mission street exit off the 101south--the traffic backs up onto the freeway.

316, I know that I am going against the tide here but, BOOOO, on all counts. So much for Goleta being The Good Land.

No problem here. That is an ideal intersection for a roundabout. Though I use that intersection all the time there is rarely a lot of cars there. Unlike the Las Positas / Cliff Drive intersection. Can't wait until they put a roundabout there.

320P: Costco, Best Buy, Borders (before it closed), Home Depot, K-Mart... These are okay, but a Target coming in makes Goleta not "The Good Land"?

SY, Thanks for helping me make my point. How much development is too much before Goleta looses it's small town rural charm? If it has not already?

I welcome the idea of a roundabout, but have heard there will also be bulbouts, which I would not be very fond of...

I don't mind a roundabout and like them after living and traveling in Europe for years. But please don't make it as lousy as the one just installed on the 246/1 intersection just East of Lompoc. It's such a tight radius and located at an odd place in the highway. When going through it we noted lots of people had already driven straight over the middle area and signage. Yeah, you can take the boy out of Lompoc, but not the Lompoc out of the boy...

320: Well, if it makes you feel any better, I'm sure Kmart will be out of business once Target opens, so it kinda evens out. I'm not familiar with this area, so I don't know about the roundabout here. I can say although the Coast Village one was an absolute MESS for quite some time, it really seems to be smooth now. I'm actually impressed that most people seem perfectly fine navigating it.

Well this intersection sure will have a lot of traffic once they close the Fairview freeway on and off-ramps...build it and they will come.

Alright! A round-about. I used to hate them, moved to Boston for a year and a half and got used to them. Now I love them. Way better than stop signs or traffic lights (but you have to give them a fair shake, here folks). This is a great location for a round-about just because it can be done without too much disruption (as compared to, say, Calle Real and Fairview intersection one reader complained about...though I do agree).

Infrastructure becomes dated and fails. We need to change our viewpoint on investing on infrastructure, and increase the % of GDP we're spending on infrastructure. All this complaining should instead be appreciation our infrastructure is being repaired, maintained and upgraded. Perhaps many of you Goletans should look at your own dilapidated 40 and 50-year old tract houses and think about renovating them. Maybe then the "Good Land" thing might mean something.
