Thank you for bringing back memories of riding my horse with friends on the Montecito trails in the 1950s. Col. McMennemy was generous enough to allow us to ride through his property, we just had to be sure the trail gates were closed to keep his horses in. He even had a picnic table in a pasture where we often stopped for lunch. Lovely photos.

Great photos! I hope no one picked the Weed's mariposa lily - its getting rare.

Thank you for the kind words! No one in our group touched the Weed's Mariposa Lily! Photos only were taken! Yes, it is an officially endangered species as far as I know. And glad the photos brought back memories of horse riding and of Col McMenemy. We are very fortunate to have this area preserved thanks to him and other more recent generous donors. This loop hike is fun because of how you can go on pieces of eight different trails in less than six miles!
