@880: You'll love Santa Cruz Island. Before you go, if you have time, read Margaret Eaton's "Diary of a Sea Captain's Wife" and T.C. Boyle's "When the Killing's Done". One is nonfiction, the other fiction, but they both tell some of the story of SCI.
