Dear Dave. You take the BEST PHOTOS. I am jealous (of photo prowess and froggy find). No frogs in my yard. Although I did raise up a huge "Queen's Tears" plant out of its pot and find a BIG newt one time. I LOVE gardening! ----Lisa K.

Nice capture of a Pacific Tree Frog. Did you kiss it to see if a Prince emerged?

I am so envious of your garden frog. I got a good chuckle from your "Al Green effect" comment too. However Al's claim to fame is how high his voice can go. In the frog kingdom perhaps they would prefer the "Barry White effect" :)

Okay. So Barry White sings at a lower register. As a female of the species, I must, however, attest to the "Al Green effect" as being more attractive. What is the male equivalent of the "siren song?" Al Green's "I'm So Tired of Being Alone," kind of fits the froggy profile a bit better, though not in the basso profundo way. Oh well. Sing it Al Green's way, frogman, and watch the girl frogs hop hop hop into your pond.

Thank you! I hear them in my yard every now and then, but never have been able to find one (Pacific tree frog). Now I know what they look like. It is amazing how much noise such a tiny creature can make.

Ok, I have to disagree and say that the Marvin Gaye effect would be the winner for me...just sayin'. Great frog pics, and a nod to Chris Erskine, a particular favorite of mine. Loved your story.

Tats are unusual in this species, check for a tongue stud. They live at the base of leaves in my bananas and bromelliads. It's sad to hear a single one calling at the end of the frog mating hysteria. When I no longer hear one frog calling I always wonder if he's found the last girl frog on the mesa or a neighbor's cat.
