A food-on-the-stove fire is still a fire that can quickly spread and destroy a house, so I think a 911 call is still "necessary." I do agree with Roger that such a fire is completely "preventable."

Parrots do not like when their space is invaded without their consent. Their body language speaks volumes. I have 2 (adopted from a sanctuary) and have learned when they want affection and when to leave them alone. Their beaks can crack Brazil nuts. Those who foolishly get too close or poke at them could lose a finger in a blink. The fact that no one has lost fingers by this bird shows that it may actually be merely giving a polite warning. Despite the fact that they are tame, they *not* domesticated.
