Please don't be fooled by the sweet little old lady demeanor of Capps. Although only educated as a school nurse, her intensive OJT as a tool and recipient of big bucks from special interest DC lobbyists is impressive.
Her recent awarding of $5million of corporate welfare to the Goleta/UCSB company, Transphorm, Inc., to buy votes prior to their inevitable bankruptcy was very smooth.
She's in bed with criminal UCSB that serves as the base of her unfortunate power. Anyone but Capps, even Maldonado.

Capps is tired and counter-productive to local interests. Time to retire Capps. Too bad she did not do this herself. Maldonado is the new voice of this county and we need to listen to it.

That voice is young, diverse, global and entrepreneurial who knows Capp's former nanny state short-term payoffs to the special interest few have only created long-term debt and a failed national agenda dumped on the younger generation who is finally rising up to stop this structural crisis.

Don't let Capps divert with this non-issue family farm tax matter. In fact be stunned at this family's one generation success story that Capps is trying to cover-up with election slime.

I'm beginning to realize that all career politicians are crooks who are bought and sold by big corporations, to look out for those interests, not those of the people.

Maldonado is a Romney copycat. Capps has her heart in the right place.

Yes, let's vote to keep more feel-good legilslators on for another term to spend other people's money that ran out years ago. Let's all make it one more big win for public employee unions because they are getting so much bad press lately. There morale must be suffering and that means they will take it out on us. We can't let that happen.

Let's keep the tax dollars flowing into the public union's hands because how else can we finally get wealth distribution in our country. Take those tax dollars that are slipping through the system and make sure they are used to give public employees more benefits, more perks and ensure we support them as our own "middle class".

Capps can do this for us. Who could say no?

293703 - You're right....Let's instead cut the capital gains tax to 5%, lower the top income tax bracket to 10%, and remove all gov't regulation on industry. Then of course when the mega-rich become mega-mega-rich, they will hire all the unemployed, give everyone huge raises and extra days off, and they will donate billions to local schools so kids can have new books, art and music classes, and sit in a classroom with less than 40 of their friends, and they will also donate billions to programs that will end homelessness and drug addiction. CEO's across the country will do away with bonuses for all upper management because they have enough money already. The world will be a better place. I can feel it.

Or maybe what I feel is my hemorroid flaring. Hard to tell.

Maldanado has a very savvy group of supporters with deep investments in what is good for our country. Capps has the same tired group of insatiable nanny-staters demanding bigger and bigger government. Never has the direction of this country been clearer or the voter given more qualified choices.

Nanny-staters spending other people's money on big government can do no better than Lois Capps. Those who recognize the above is unsustainable and bankrupting everything we used to stand for and promise in this country have the right candidate in Abel Maldanado.

Lois who never generated a private industry pay check versus a candidate who has walked and talked both sides of the economy - both state and private. Voters not only have a choice for themselves; they have a choice for the direction of this country at stake.

293703 - Is THAT all you got???? Let's not vote for Lois because for 20 years she worked as a public school nurse and was paid with tax dollars????

How TYPICAL of a Rushwannabe Foxnewsian.

"Maldanado has a very savvy group of supporters with deep investments in what is good for our country."

So glad to hear someone admit that Maldonado's fat-cat supporters think that not paying one's fair share of taxes is "what is good for our country". We already know that Maldonado and his family don't want to pay their taxes, but contrary to your assertions, the average working person who pays taxes on virtually every dollar they earn would really like to see Maldonado and all the other wealthy tax cheats pay their fair share already!

Lois Capps has been a fantastic representative, who is incredibly accessible and a tireless advocate for the people, businesses, and environment in her district. And the fact that she supports the middle class is an indication that her interests are aligned with her constituents (who are largely middle class) rather than with her campaign contributors.

@836: Your statement is so insightful, but why put people down when you could get your point across without making enemies? It's okay to have Republican friends...really, it's okay. Finger pointing and back stabbing is the last thing that any of us "out here" want.

I never said "Republican". But if that's how you choose to interpret "wealthy fat cats who don't want to pay taxes", be my guest....

The real question isn't whether Maldonado or Capps is better. It's whether Maldonado would be allowed to serve as our representative while he's serving hard time for tax fraud.

890: Your judgmentalism has got to go

"Jealousy" and "seething anger"? That's a lot of name calling for someone who tries to pass themselves off as an elightened and peaceful soul, don't you think? Practice what you preach. Better yet, just don't preach at all.

"Supporting the middle class" is the latest public employee union buzzword for more government employee benefits, higher salaries and job security.

Just substitute " supporting public employee union workers" every time you read of hear "supporting the middle class" in this next campaign season.

Those real middle class workers in the private sector who vastly out-number those pampered union public employees in the public sector are mad and you can expect a huge backlash vote against Big Government and candidates like Lois Capps and Taxin' Jackson.

The wealth disparity that will count this election is between the public sector workers and the private sector workers, no matter how much the public sector unions try to spin it.

Maldonado cheated the Federal government out of paying his fair share of taxes, yet wants to be employed by the same federal government, and enjoy all the perks that come with it. The rest of us pick up his bar tab. Crime pays!

Maldonado would be wise to throw in the towel before he's humilitated in November. He should know this is "Capp's country"!

"Supporting the middle class" is what our country is supposed to be about and what made our country so strong in the first place. It's painfully obvious who in our society doesn't want to support the middle class, and exactly why. The attempt to make "middle class" into some smear against public employees is the height of elitism and reveals an attitude of entitlement and selfishness. That sort of animosity towards working people may be fasionable among the country club crowd, but the vast majority of Americans are middle class, believe in the middle class, and will vote for politicians that support the middle class.
