It's nice to know some of the particulars in this story. Thank you rescue workers for your dedication and important work. Best wishes to the injured couple

Glad they were found before high tide drowned them.

They should be counting their lucky stars this happened in SB, and they were 1) noticed by a passerby 2) and it was someone who cared enough to get help

I'm sorry, but who would climb a fence that is clearly intended to alert people to an unsafe area? Of course, all of the citizens and rescuers are to be commended, but this was a preventable accident if the couple had half a brain between them.

Thanks for the report and the pictures. Do you guys listen in on the scanner and then rush to the scene (of fire, accident, auto accidents) or do you have someone(s) (Roger?) call you? Definitely a preventable accident, but it won't be surprising if they sue the deep pockets city so as to recoup their medical expenses to pay Cottage Hospital.

I'm sorry this couple learned their lesson the hard way...the fences are there for a reason. We can put up warnings and safeguards, require seatbelts and helmets, but we cannot make the world foolproof.

Cannot count how many times I have seen couples, groups of people standing on wrong side of Shoreline park fence, joyously rebelling against--------common sense? Silly geese. Have seen this behavior right after heavy rains, too. Hopefully these two were full of wine and fell somewhat like drunks. That may save them.

According to this morning's NewsPress, they are 23-year-olds and were drinking, and are not okay.

Reported to be in their 50's and they turn out to be 23. Hard living? Of course I'm sorry to see anyone get injured but sadly it's true that you "cannot legislate stupidity". Urban Hikers: I really LOVE your photos and commentary.

It never ceases to astound me that people can quicky be judge to an event they know only bits and pieces of. I am personally involved in what has been the worse crisis of my life going through this and find it utterly repulsive of comments like "half a brain". You know absloutley nothing about these people or the accident. I have always been taught to choose my words very carefully it is dissapointing that this practice is not common place.
