Right about the time of the fires I got on the NB 101 @ Fairview behind an old dilapated RV that was struggling to keep up the speed limit - wonder if it was that RV.

Way back in 1992 or 1993 on July 4th, there was an RV that caught fire right by the Turnpike exit on NB 101. The whole thing burned to a shell. Cause was a faulty propane tank.

Wouldn't doubt it. Down at Willow Springs Raceway one time, a guys cat started to fall apart, and it proceeded to shoot little bite sized pieces out of the exhaust when he revved it. Needless to say, they were EXTREMELY hot.

It was a joint effort in determining the cause of the fire by both law enforcement and fire department agencies. It was actually a Sheriff's Department Lieutenant that advised other units that there might be a vehicle with a malfunctioning catalytic converter that started the fire.
