I miss the St. Francis Hospital alot, but some things that have changed for the worse, we can do nothing about. I'm ready to support the Goleta Valley Cottage. This community must have two very well run hospitals. I vote for a helipad for the Goleta Vally Cottatge. I'm willing to have a little extra noise because helipads for hospitals often mean the difference between someone's life being saved or their death.

Maybe they can move the helipad to Goleta, where it should have been built in the first place. Less residents in the immediate radius.

Great, i like GVCH, and have received good care there. NO HELIPORT!! That stays in SB, can we all agree? :)

Thank you to those who donate time or who help our non-profits. We are enriched by your giving. Just as there is an Edhat cat or dog of the day, perhaps there should be a volunteer or philanthropist of the day or week. Hurrah to those who have hope that SBA will be an ever better place in the future. Philanthropists and volunteers of Santa Barbara - thanks for contributing locally.

About 5 years ago I was treated in the ER immediately for suspected anaphylaxis, probably because I could have stopped breathing. Great treatment, great staff. About 4 years ago I was treated in the ER again very quickly for a series of serious cat bites on my hand. Again; treatment was timely, thorough, and caring. 7 years ago my wonderful niece was born at GVCH, again staff was terrific (I was with my sister through her 24 hour + labor). Apparently a lot has changed, which sounds unfortunate. If it's such a bad, poor performing hospital, perhaps all of this money being thrown at it will bring it back up. ...or maybe you two just had a bad experience.

I agree with 393 - We took a friend into the GVCH after a nasty bike accident. One other person there @ 1:30 pm on a Saturday afternoon. Total time in to out FIVE hours. Nuts! The ER, from the waiting room area to the actual exam rooms was very dated & downright unsanitary looking. The staff was in complete slo-mo the entire time we were there. Probably a staff picnic at the same time. Never again!

393 - Don't worry, now with Obamacare, you'll get free insurance shortly.

Oh great, maybe they can lower there fees a bit now. Had a 3 hour emergency room visit last August for a kidney stone which ran $5,000 + the cost of the CT scan.
