If people don't like it, then just boycott the station and use a different one. If revenues drop to where the added revenues from having advertising don't make up for it, then the owner may change their mind and not contract with the ad company anymore. The bottom line is profits and that's the only thing the station owner will really care about.

yeeesss. the dignity of our city....never mind the overwhelming stench of urine that wafts over downtown...or the various disheveled bodies around town slumped over sleeping off a refreshing afternoon drunk....

Oh Commissioner Sheila Lodge…still out of touch after all these years. As the City Council said, “Deal with it.”

Earth to Cathy: giving handouts to attract more vagrants takes away from the dignity of our city. Trust in the market place, Murillo. If customers don't like being blasted by this nuisance, they will buy their gas elsewhere. We don't need a government nanny for these types of private property matters.

Amazing that advertisers are so desperate to reach us that they will pay to run commercials on gas pumps. Well, maybe the commercials will distract us from the pain of watching the sales total for filling up your tank!

As these obnoxious machines proliferate, I've begun to think the speakers might easily be covered by some of the advertising magnets we receive with in the mail.

The dignity of our City is diminished when the City Council wastes their time with this minutia.

I had to laugh when I saw this - this would only be an issue here in SB. I like to slip out late at night to fuel my vehicle - something that wouldn't be too safe if I lived in other places - I don't even notice those screen things - I'm pretty sure I'm not alone in that.

last time I filled up, all I saw and heard were ads for the gas station and local businesses. I think it's great, better than being spammed with junkmail.

I agree with 881. Don't give this station your business if you're bothered by the ads.

It rarely takes me 5 minutes to gas up, but in the 3 minutes I have I am too busy either washing my windows or checking the oil level to care about ads. And what would a person do, go around to every pump and mute them all? There are several other pumps just a few feet away. I'm a democrat, but this is a classic example of governmental intervention that we DON'T want. Lodge and Murillo seriously need to have their heads examined because I truly believe both are insane.

I would appreciate an ordinance to require cell phone operators to offer others in their vicinity a mute button! What's the chance of that?
