Did I miss this the first time around or is this the first time they've made in public? What a crappy thing to do - to a museum yet! Not like they're rolling in money.

In this day, $4 thousand in gold is not that much. But more interesting to me is why now, six months after the fact?

They can forget about ever getting the gold back, it has long ago been melted down and sold. While reading that article I could not help but think inside job. What is the statute of limitations on burglary any way? The thieves may think they have gotten away with this theft but they have not. Karma will exact its revenge eventually.

Maybe the Museum should bring back the rattlesnake with the tail that would rattle when you pushed the button.

The rattlesnake is still there and has been continuously since 1938. Maybe it was cold that night and he was hibernating.

The Indians call gold " The metal that makes men crazy"...so I`ve no sympathy...because while some few people call this "priceless",historical"..I say it`s just metal. it only possess the "value" man has placed upon it, & the "time in Ca.`s history" was a horrible one.....& I second "inside job".

LAME! I hope they get caught and punished. Maybe then the police would actually be doing their job instead of "stinging" people for not slowing down for crosswalks...

Probably got sold to buy drugs. That sort of short-term stupidity is a signature of an addicts desperation.

684 - while gold may have been valuable centuries ago simply for its appearance or implied value, it certainly is a highly valuable metal today in terms of its use in technology.

Lots of people have been "inside" the museum.

6-8 ounces of gold is a lot more than $4K.
