Yes, that's its name. Not a cruise ship, but high-end onboard living. People spend several months on the ship, traveling the world. Some live on it year-round.

I wonder if they can smell the Bird Refuge. Maybe we can market the smell as a tourist attaction: " The World's Smelliest Duck Pond."

From Wikipedia: The ship has 110 apartments where owners live and 88 "guest suites" rented out on short-term basis, as in a traditional cruise ship....As of 2010, a 328 sq ft (30.5 m2) studio has a list price of USD $600,000. Ocean Residence 1006 (2 bedroom, 2.5 bath) list price USD $2,950,000. The World Suite 1108/1110 list price USD $13,500,000. Monthly homeowner dues range from $20,000 per month (for the smaller units) and up, and cover fuel, crew, maintenance and a meal allowance for the owner.

The ultimate floating RV for retired people. Or as my friend in Seattle calls it, camping with a chance of drowning.

Those prices don't sound anything like "rv" or "camping" or even "retired" in my book... hope they came into town and dropped some of that dough.

I wounder if they Pollute the Water like all other Cruse Ships that Have free rain to dump sewage, trash, oil and anything else they want in the water.. If so that thing should be Dry Docked like all other Cruise ships that Cause so much pollution in our water!.

The California Hotel was supposed to be preserved as part of the so called Levy "La Entrada" project and was part of the permitting and coastal commission process allowing Levy to evade the City's order to do earthquake retrofitting on the building while his project was constructed and now it being demolished. Maybe a ship like this could become part of the revised La Entrada project by permanently achoring just off shore. It could be callled the SS Levy and the City Council could waive any anchorage fees or other charges for the Captain and the shipping company who would, of course, treat them to lunch on board every week to grease the wheels of the new project.

Cruise ships follow strict environmental guidelines. Hold the class envy and educate yourself before you speak. They are an extremely small part of global shipping industry as well when you add up everything else that is out there floating on the sea. Class envy makes you stupid.
