what useless animals! if i'm doing my math correctly, they each get a little over 10 acres. holy Jesus! i'm sorry but natural selection needs to run its course in this case.

510, it's obvious you do not understand natural selection. This isn't it. I'm sure you wish all that land could be converted to whatever you want, but I say bravo to the protection. The birds need it. If we killed off everything that you thought was useless, I've got news for you - we'd be dead too.

What would Holy Jesus do? Does God create useless animals? 60% of laypeople don"t know what biodiversity is. 70% of scientists commissioned by the New York Natural History Museum say 20% of all plant and animal species will be gone in 30 years and half gone in our lifetimes at present rates. This is said to be a greater mass extinction than when the dinosaurs disappeared or at any other time. 90% of big ocean fish are already gone. Wake up people! Is this the kind of world you want to leave for your grandchildren?

Natural selection doesn't involve allowing humans and dogs to take over the beach. If we really cared about natural selection, there would be no such thing as vaccines or medical care for that matter.

530.... Creationism and science don't mix...one rules out the other...besides the dinosaurs never became extinct ... The adapted and live with us as birds... Sounds crazy but true!

@289651 One small branch of dinosaurs had developed feathers prior to the K-T meteorite 65 MYA and was able to survive. That no more means that the dinosaurs never became extinct than it means that sabre-tooth tigers or wooly mammoths never became extinct just because there are tigers and elephants today. @289510 Usefulness is not an evolutionary issue, and besides these animals are not useless. And be careful what you wish for: it could be argued that an understanding of evolution and natural selection makes one useful ...
