What a wonderful visitor. Have a good trip, Dan, and maybe you two can hook up when you return.

when our last cat was ailing (he did die), a beautiful young cat showed up and has never left. I believe in the cat network.

Several years ago, my ex-boyfriends cat passed away. The cat next door, who looked exactly like his and never set foot on his property (first cat was very territorial), actually showed up as the first kitty was being buried (I had to put her to sleep while he was gone on a trip). She sat on a rock and watched as we laid "Poody" to rest. When he came home, the next afternoon he was sitting in his office sending out an email about his beloved kitty's passing when he heard a scratching at the screen (which is what Poody used to do). It startled him because when he turned and looked, he thought it was Poody. But it was Zsa Zsa, the next door kitty. He went and opened the door and she waltzed right in, plopped down on his desk where Poody always laid, slept on the bed with him that night, right where Poody always slept. Zsa Zsa was a free spirit and didn't really like living next door so she became his cat (with her owners blessing). I told him that I honestly believed it was Poodys spirit, coming back to comfort him in his grief. Everything happens for a reason!

How sweet is that? Cats are very sensitive and I'm sure this one's honed in on your grieving and came to lighten your heart.
Reminds me of a neighbor's cat from a few years ago.... Lovely creature who kind of sang instead of meowing, so sweet. We became friendly and he'd visit from time time. Then my neighbor across the driveway told me he'd been killed by a coyote and my heart just sank. That night he showed up on the roof of my neighbors garage, looking like a sentinel in the dusk, as if to say "rumours of my demise have been greatly exaggerated". It really felt as if he'd come to dispel the myth of his death and ease my concern. Be comforted by your visitor, Dan. :-)

Buddy & Bob are sending messages through their friends. You will know. Meantime, this guy is adorable.

Dan, please consider that the cat visiting you in Bob's spot probably is an owned cat. He looks well fed and cared for. He could be someone's loved missing cat or he could be a neighbor's cat who is simply visiting in what was Bob's territory.

Awwww... yep, you just might be in the process of being "checked out" for adoption! LOL!

Gorgeous and looks like a new "watcher" cat (my version of feline guardian angels). Bob sent someone to take his place! Please keep us updated. Until then I don't think a small water dish up there would be a bad idea = )

Your visitor seems to have an old soul. Guiding you through your loss is this kitty's project! I lost my babygirl on May 26, the empty feeling is the hardest part.

such a distinctive head marking--never seen anything like that on a tabby, usually just the familiar flame pattern. very handsome.

there is an expectant look in his eye--like "It's okay, isn't it, if I try out Bob's favorite spot?"

Hope you have a relaxing and peaceful trip, Dan.

The "Roof Sessions" are my favorite Bob photos. I SO want this guy to be choosing you for his forever home.

447P, I agree. Animals sense things. My plan was not to adopt this cat. But if it stays around, who knows.

When Buddy died I had a group of skunks visit, all black and white like he was. Now this kitty shows up.

Thanks Thomasina.

There is nothing better than to be selected as personal human to a cat. They tend to be very affectionate, loyal and best of all .... street smart. You can't teach that to a pair of kittens... hence the craze for keeping cats indoors.

Looks like this guy knows you're a "cattie" and there's no other cat fighting him off the property. Give him a bit of kibble and he'll be waiting for your return from your trip.

When my kitty died, all the neighborhood cats stopped by in the next few days to make sure I wasn't too lonely. You can claim they were trying to steal her spot, but I choose to believe that they all knew I needed extra kitty love, and they provided it.
