The grand theft auto on E. Anapamu happened to a hard -working floor installer. He was unloading his truck to start the job and left the keys in it while going up to the apartment. The truck was gone in seconds. $6,000 worth of tools gone. He'd just gotten back on his feet job-wise after nearly loosing his home. SBPD says there are rings of thieves who patrol the neighborhoods looking for an opportunity to grab a work truck and tools. They take them out of the area to sell at swap meets. They dump the stolen vehicles. Beware.

To clarify: The thieves are targeting tradesmen and their tools. They steal the truck, grab the tools then dump the truck somewhere. The stolen tools are then taken somewhere else and sold at swap meets, usually out of the area. They work in teams in our neighborhoods looking for a set of keys left behind while a workman is unloading his truck for the start of the job first thing in the morning. SBPD is the source of this info.

Hey Roger! Thanks for putting this all down in black and white for us to see, for free no less! I know I can always find out what is really happening in town with your scanner updates. Yea I like that woodchipper thing too..Been looking for toy woodchippers on the internet or on a hat, tee shirt etc. Those things are really scarey though. Especally when your riding your bike behind on on the street.
