This refers to an "auto thief." At first I thought he had stolen a car, but after reading the writeup carefully, it appears he didn't steal a car but broke into it, stealing items instead. Kinda confusing.

My sister-in-law went to her gym, tossed her purse in the trunk, and when she came out the purse was gone. Thief saw her do it, knew she'd be gone at least an hour. Why would anyone leave valuables in the car?? For a pro, it takes avout a minute to unlock.

Not blaming the victim. I am, however, stunned to see what folks leave laying out inside their unlocked/locked vehicles.

Flicka--why would you want to be so negative? It is perfectly reasonable for a person to assume that a locked trunk is safe. Sounds to me like your sister-in-law was perfectly diligent and your criticism of her is a bit personal.

My $20 phone takes better quality pictures. WHY? WHY go through the trouble of installing surveillance cameras that take pictures that can't even be used to ID someone? All that can really be gathered is that it's a white dude, not skinny, with short hair. Better than nothing, yes, but I still don't get it.

@154 are you saying these pictures are not good quality?? Cuz, I think they are great and I'm sure this guy will be caught because the pictures are good quality.

If he used a credit card to buy gift cards this should all be very easy to trace. The stores which the cards were purchaced for just need to be alerted and when the suspect cards are redeemed... whala, you have your criminal, or whomever he sold the cards to. Just do it!

D8Vanilla - Yes, that is exactly what I am saying. The pictures are of poor quality. Just because you can make out figures and potentially ID the guy does not make them good quality - just about anyone with this guy's build and haircut could be a suspect based on these grainy, pixelated photographs.
