Just great.... In that case the Governer can say bye bye to his tax increases in the fall. I have only so much money spend.

Why not a ballot measure to lower the City Council member's salaries and pensions? Lead by example and start at the top.

It says right in the article that the rates are being raised to pay for repairs to the water/sewage systems, and the trash increase is attributable to increased charges from Marborg, a private-sector company.

It seems to me that conservatives ought to be lockstep in support of these increases. Or are "pay for what you use" and "private-sector uber alles" only mantras they use when they stand to profit from their demagoguery?

057- Before they raise rates and cutting BASIC services, how about cutting off entitlements to non-citizens first. Yes, CITIZENS FIRST!

There's an idea...only collect the trash from citizens. Let the rest rot!

LOL!!! I love it when liberals run out of OPM and start trying to shake us down for our pocket change.
LMFAO these days, you liberal guys and gals crack me up!

You guys aren't really citizens, you're Cast Members in a DisneyVille where they forgot to put up a turnstile. Everyone gets in for free, and you're paying for it.

This is what happens when Schneider, Murrillo, House, and White control the city council and, by extension, the general fund. They divert money away from badly needed infastrucutre repairs--stuff all of us rely on--in favor of touchy, feely social work programs like the Rental Mediation Task Force, government housing, and sober living ceters, all of which cost money. Had they spent the money wisely, they would have made the necessary cuts to the city's social work programs and used the money instead to repair infrastructure, which would prevented the rate increase, or at leasted softened their impact. One way or another, we all end up paying for Schneider, Murrillo, House, and White's bad fiscal decisions.

161 hits the nail on the head. The first responsibilities of government have been shortchanged to do extras that should only be done after essentials in flush times, if the citizenry agrees. So they blew it on priorities, on flush times, and on citizen agreement.

WOW! lots of comments from people who obviously do not know the facts. Rates were raised due to the settlement from the Channel Keeper lawsuit. We now get to raise our rates to replace an extra 2.5 miles of sewer lines per year. Crazy how upset we get over a few dollars a month yet I don't hear much anger towards the bankers that milked us for 100's of billions. Stop sweating the small stuff and focus on the big picture. If you are a Liberal or Conservative who constanly bashes anything and everything from the other side please take a look in the mirror. You are the problem.
