The new street lights make the old ones look like a joke. The first time I went through the intersection, I thought there was a construction crew working, it was so bright.

Let's see, the project is projected to save 11K/yr and cost 27K. So they will recoup their costs in less than 3 yrs and continue saving after that. Seems like a great project! Goleta seems to have plenty of money in general. Some of their employees are fortunate enough to have City cars that they use to commute from Ventura each day. Nice deal for them!

The only thing 'GREEN' at my Goleta home is the amazing grass and flower leaves. Green to me is code word fascism. That is what 'Green' means to me. Solvent Green. Ironic? Fitting. Our children our brainwashed with this liberal hooey.

@147 Solvent Green? Is that like Simple Green, the degreaser I use in my sink? (If you are trying to make an outlandish, hyperbolic point it helps to use the right references.)

This is a smart move and I applaud the action. The retrofits break even in about 3 years, and after that the city just saves for years and years to come. Less power consumed, less costs incurred. There is no downside here unless your livelihood comes from selling natural gas, nuclear or coal-fired power.This one is a no-brainer. Bravo!
