I used to do Trolley tours a couple years ago...I was stopped at the crosswalk in front of Coral casino for a pedestrian...who happened to be, Bruce Johnston!..He leaned into the door & says, "Now you can say a Beach-Boy stopped you on tour"...I said, but I`ll have no proof"..."How about autographing my Hawaiian shirt"? [ a real one!],so he did. Should I put it on CL barter?...

I see 14 band members in the one photo. I'm guessing maybe that is some of the 'backup' sound you were hearing. I doubt they lip synch, but they may have some backup.

"The Wondermints" do wonders for the Beach Boys. They are a Beach Boy cover band that has been working with Brian Wilson on tour for over a dozen years. They are simply wonderful musicians and can do the Beach Boys nearly perfectly without any of the Beach Boys.

Saw them all in a TV interview a few weeks ago, and wow - total let down. Geezer show for sure. There are lots of has-been bands & solo performers from the late 60's & 70's back out on tour and sadly, many fall way short. I guess as long as the Boomers will part with their hard earned cash, the has-beens will continue playing for the desperately needed bucks. Where did all their money go? Even C,S,& N are back out on a zillion city tour to milk it for another summer. Geeze

It was the best concert! A lot of memories of high school flood back. I thought Mike Love was in perfect form and the solos by Jardine very nice. Sentimental look at brothers passed away poignant . The sheer body of musical works by Brian Wilson is impressive enough. Yes, one of the other guys does some of his higher solos. So what? Perhaps, some concertgoers missed the "joy" evident on others faces. I, for one, was happy to be there laughing and doing the surfer stomp. It was a celebration of fun, fun, fun.

I don't think older bands necessarily tour for the money; they do it because they still can! The Stones wanted to do a 50th anniversary tour this year but had too many other things going on, they plan to do a 51st. They certainly haven't "lost their money". Mick was great on the SNL season final 2 weeks ago.

I'll take the 'Geezer' bands over c'Rap' any day. More talent in their toe nail clippings. Good wine and music, for the most part, just keeps getting better with age. They've definitely had time to perfect and polish the shows. Right on!

I drove by Garcia road and heard the last minute of; I Get Around. BTW that was the first record that my I ever aquired, my dad brought me to Zodies. The band sounded great, spot on thru the fence! Really great! Then it went quiet and I went back towards home (I get Around) by the mission and all the happy warm chalk gawkers.....SB at it's best. Why do we love it here? Could be the Beach Boys made it perfect for this man. Oh and Help Me Ronda was on the Bside......

I am a local SBarbarian and am honored to now be working on my fifth Beach Boy 50th Anniversary project. One project was the video tributes. Anyone notice the photo of the SB Bowl during the "Forever" tribute? Last time I saw them at the Bowl was 73 although I think they were there once after that. Great show for a bunch of aging rockers and the first American band to reach 50 Big Ones.

Musicians love to play, so why should they stop? ...esp if people want to see & hear them! I've attended many concerts, and although I prefer a different kind of rock, I must admit that these "old guys" put on a great show and really appreciated the audience. Just because someone one is a "geezer" does not mean he should stop performing - give me a break! Those of us who did not get to get to see them in their heyday do appreciate seeing them NOW.....as did so many young people I saw in attendance Monday night.

I love all the positive comments here. The show was fabulous. Even if they got some help with the high notes...who cares? The harmonies were spectacular and my daughter, a youngun at 27, who works every bowl show said it was the best concert so far this season!

Best concert ever! There's nothing like a whole bowl of fans singing and dancing full out! At first we were worried that the snare-drum set would overwhelm the singers but the sound board guys tweaked the balance so the sweet harmonies stood out in front like they should.

@755 I have to correct an error in your posting. Actually there are several well-known rock and R&B bands to make their 50th anniversaries well-before the Beach Boys. The Four Tops for instance, celebrated their 50th, back in 1994, with all the original members still performing, including lead singer Levi Stubbs. The Ventures celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2008, having been continuously performing, touring, and recording every year since 1958. There are others, equally famous that have reached their Golden Anniversaries, prior to the Beach Boys.

Oops, correction to my posting - the Four Tops actually celebrated their 50th in 2004, having been together, actively performing and touring without a break since 1954. Levi Stubbs is now gone, but they had a great run, with all the original members, for an amazing number of years.
