We have lived in La Cumbre area for 48 years and cannot recall a Calle Siete. Where abouts would it be, please?

Calle Siete is by your mother's house - give Roger a break. Maybe in 48 years Roger will spell the streets names properly for you. Speaking of breaks, how about we give you a break for living in our town for 48 years without complaining about your complaining. Sheesh!! Some people. Roger, most of us get it when you accidentally spell things phonetically; most of us get it when you purposely spell things wrong (for instance, underpants for underpass). Carrillo, Cabrillo, Castillo....I still mix 'em up after nearly 60 years, which is twelve more years than someone who has lived in (the) La Cumbre area.

Was the rifleman last night, Thursday? Would that account for all the sirens we heard? 485--give it a rest, nothing complaining about wanting to know where a street is!! We get Dodger, just when a man walking around with a rifle is mentioned, we, who live in the La Cumbre area might be interested in specifics. But, thanks for the report Rodger, entertaining as usual! Hope you week improves, Dog willing!

There is absolutely no need to be as rude as this. It was a valid question, polite and inquiring , and deserves a polite reply. Not some nitwit's childish and muddled diatribe. I assume this scanner person is an adult and can answer for himself. No offense intended, Scanner Guy.

Maybe it's Calle Cita?

The street was Calle Cita, which is between Hope and La Cumbre. Spoke to officer just after 5:30pm on Thursday and he said there was a report of a person pointing a pellet gun at cars.

When I heard it it was a rifle. I think what would help is if the City Council voted to change the names of the streets to the way I spell them. Then no one would have problems trying to figure out what I'm saying.

Gosh darn it!!! Why are people so mean on this board? I mean, let's face it, there are always trolls here and there, however, it seems that literally almost EVERY single post on this board attacks the OP for asking a question, people taking issue with grammar/spelling, or attacks others for simply responding. It seems it is no longer an occasional troll, rather a bridge full of 'em. There have been several times where I had information on something I saw on the board however, due to the cruelty I typically choose to "remain silent." I often wonder if it is usually the same people that attack everyone on this board. Do these rude people act this way in public or just behind the safety of their puters? Half the time I feel like I am reading the "rants and raves" on CL. Sheesh people take a lude! Now I supose I am going to get deleted for this, right?

548. Thank you for the clear and concise information. It is appreciated. I live on North La Cumbre Road, near to Call Cita.

If people can give the correct information by simply spelling the name of the street correctly it avoids confusion and spoils the fun for nitwits whose life's goal is to stir up silliness.

569 This is why I cancelled my subscription. It is foolish to pay for being insulted, and to read about others being insulted in cyberland, by diatribes from tiresome, bored and safely anonymous people.

I am always amazed at the carping too. I normally just read Roger's Introduction and enjoy that, Not living in the area any more, I don't read all of his recapitulation of the reports usually. Went back and did so now to see his "mistakes". and was amazed at how much info he gives us .No other news outlet keeps us on the alert like our Rodger Dodger. My fingers often slip from the 9 to the 0 also when I am typing. And the street names in Santa Barbara are often difficult, to pronouce and to spell. And I love his humor. We are lucky to have him share with us.

Calle Cita also runs from Grove Lane to Willow Glen.
I walked it for 9 years back in the good ole days (well before that stop sign).
I've been told there's a character on Grove now, on a bicycle, who may intimidate people with his behavior. I much appreciate the clarification of location. Don't much appreciate the snarking.

I know for a fact I wouldn't be able to make out one-tenth of what I hear on a scanner. I too appreciate Roger's work.

I find it incredible why you people find it so important that you need to know all that scanner traffic. Seems like virtual ambulance chasing to me. What a waste of time and energy.

Why is there so much complaining from people that come here to read what you write and they aren't even paying you for the service? The way I see it is this - as soon as you are paying Roger for the service you can critique his posts, until then, you have no right to say anything negative. If you don't like the way he spells, get your own scanner! He is not obligated to you, he does a pretty good job with all of the scanner chatter and he posts it LIVE, why would you expect him to go look up the names to every street? If he did that he would be totally unable to post live.

If you want to see how dedicated he is, go back & look at the scanner report from earlier this week when the horse was being rescued. Talk about crazy! Roger is totally crazy but that's part of his charm. If you can't deal with it then don't read it.

My father had a scanner and I always thought it was ridiculous for him to have it on all of the time. After he passed away I was going through his stuff and found the scanner. I turned it on and listened to the chatter of the fire/city/police/streets/county/etc. and turned it off....about fifteen minutes later I turned it back on and had another listen....I've not turned it off for nearly 15 years. Get yourself a scanner people and you WILL become addicted. I imagine it would be even that much more fun for Roger being high all day listening to the scanner, but he is high all day because he needs to take his medication...it'll be 4:20 before you know it folks!!! Get a scanner and get high on that.

Actually, Sir, I am here because last time I looked it was a free country - even in cyberland - and intimidation is wasted on me by the way. Am I missing something? The person being "put down" was asking what he/she thought to be a decent question but instead fueled a cloud of anger and paranoia out of goodness knows where.

So look up the street and correctly spill it yourself.
