Couldn't agree with you more Roger. I think they will still be using home delivery services, just not storefront dispensaries. Interesting though, as there were a few dispensaries that seemed to be in compliance. One in old town Goleta has been there since the very beginning, leading me to believe they actually followed the rules. Shame that people really can't be free to do what they please, so long as they don't hurt anyone.

Roger - I too am a MMJ patient. I have a painful tumor that cannabis relieves. There are delivery services available, such as MedStar. Take care, Roger.

If we could somehow take the profit motive out of the marijuana situation, that would cut down on the problems. I don't see how to do that though without legalization for everyone. Regulate and tax, on a par with tobacco and alcohol. Roger, I think you're kidding about going back to drinking, but if you aren't kidding, please don't do it. It will be different this time, yeah, it will be WORSE.

No longer speak to 3 siblings due to their alcohol abuse. One of which lost his 3 kids and great wife. Never had an issue with any for smoking pot though.

0013, taking the profit motive out of all healthcare might be a great idea, but singling out pot from the rest of the disturbingly huge and profitable pharmacopeia seems at best arbitrary...

Apparently Obama would rather deport dispensaries than illegal aliens.

Wish there was an easy way to flag comments for deletion, I'd do it with 098P's totally non-factual statement seeing as how illegal immigrants are being deported at record highs under the current administration.

Roger, Sorry to hear about your dispensary. Most of them in town have/had some great employees that will most likely now be on the unemployment rolls. Very sad, I feel for the employees as well as the patients. I guess for now it's deliveries or the trek down south. While the feds can gang up on a small town such as Santa Barbara good luck with Los Angeles and areas further south.

Hey Rodger fellow MMJ patient here as well...its a shame we have no more places in Sb to get our medicine, you are always welcome to hitch a ride with me on my weekly trips down south! @100 Marinol is not the same effect as other cannabis forms, and is also not covered on many health care policys...

Growing your own takes the profit motive away, reduces the cost to your cost not the profits and overhead of the head shops. Gives YOU control over quality, pesticides, chemical fertilizers. Eliminates, hopefully, the risk of weed getting in to the wrong hands. De-politicizes the issue.

My CEO father found that marijuana helped him not vomit after his cancer treatments. However, dispensaries were still illegtal at the time. He was too concerned that marijuana usage would harm his reputation and long established career. There is a source and comparison site: legalmarijuanadispensary; looks like there is a dispensary near Hi. 33. People just don't understand there are medical needs and that it is not addictive.

I'm not a marijuana user but strongly support legalizing it. The harmful effects of alcohol are proven to be so much more than marijuana but that is now legal to sell and use (after our country's disastrous attempt to outlaw it in the '20s). If for no other reason than the economics of the so-called war on drugs we should legalize, regulate and tax it like alcohol. Continuing our failed attempts to eradicate its use is totally illogical and devoid of common sense.

I'm doing ok now was alittle shook I was gonna have to scrape some reisn off a panga boat. Remember that good herb from down south with oil poured all over it? Ugh I know pharmaceutical companies know how to make medication that won't harm or kill but they don't and I agree they are evil. The older I get the more I believe the Devil really does exist.

I went by the two dispensaries in Goleta today and it was very sad. One had a note on the door saying we are not criminals and the other a copy of the letter essentially telling them to cease and desist. I'd compose an obituary for medical marijuana in Santa Barbara but I doubt they would let me post it. On a different note, anybody interested in starting a scheduled bi-weekly shuttle down the coast to a couple of the nearest dispensaries? There may even be an individual or group that would be willing to provide this service for a minimal cost. Also, does anybody know where the nearest decent dispensary to the south is? I'm running low and will need to make the trek down there sometime soon. They are going to find you can take the dispensaries out of Santa Barbara but you can't take the medical marijuana away from the people.

I read this just before checking edhat http://www.opposingviews.com/i/health/conditions/cancer/supreme-court-justice-gustin-reichbach-admits-smoking-illegal-marijuana Residential collectives are legal. Going outside the county isn't - a caregiver can have 1 patient outside of their county - state law. A county mmj card ($161) eliminates the caregiver issue. Deliveries are legal as long as the medicine is legal. The raids have nothing to do with local dispensaries operating legally - one I know of got a call from DEA saying they were going to confiscate everything, sight unseen, no info from DA's office to justify this, the DA's office said they had no info regarding illegal operation. - the feds are criminal thieves. ASA is having a press conference on the Capital steps (Sacto) Monday at noon, and are planning litigation based on U.S.Constitution 10th amendment. The feds are issuing patents for medical uses of cannabis and derivatives like crazy - I got 692 hits searching cannabis + medical + cancer recently, but they've blocked the real database and renumbered the patents so new users of the US Patent database can't access them. One patent references a 1980 research publication showing cannabis repairs oxidation damage caused by radiation - very evil to not share this with Fukushima victims. Restivo's bust too - AG Bill Lockyer's 2003 decision that concentrated cannabis, including oil (but not made w/butane) http://ag.ca.gov/opinions/pdfs/03-411.pdf. Isn't the Green Well still open? Is there a way to contact Roger Dodger w/o posting? I'd like to get a CD to him.
