A fairly basic antenna for digital signel should run you between $25 to $100 depending on your home location and the location of your tv in your house. one time fee. you should be able to get between 5 an 20 stations [6-8 may be Spanish speaking] The only problem is you would still need the Internet. [Cox $35-$58]

I only have the very limited, basic stations from Cox and internet service and it costs me about $85 a month. I cut back on the expanded stations (which I never watched), and the HD service (which didn't seem to make any different) and was able to shave about $50 a month from my bill. Also, I no longer have a land line and just use my cell phone.

wasn't there a law passed allowing us to bundle what we wanted? Cox told me no, but I could swear it was passed a few years ago.

Thanks for the email - I'm sure you've reached a lot of people who would never have considered doing this, although the posters above and myself have. We need all the help we can get.

On another note.. I just checked my cell-phone contract online (Verizon...900 minutes per month)...I looked at my usage and found that I haven't used more than 400 per month for the last 6 months)...changed plans and now saving $20 per month. Excellent customer service also.

I have a tv tht I plug into the wall and get channels. They said that this is impossible. Anyone know why I can still get reception? We have two, one operates on batteries and the other plugs in.

@269...a filter should have been placed on your line to block those analog signals. the fact is, you shouldn't receive them for long anyways, as cox is no longer mandated to provide analog channels, they will surely find a use for that bandwidth. enjoy it while you can. @286...Hulu may soon require a cable package to view their content, so the cord cutters like us may see our selection reduced yet again.

We just get internet now, and we still get all the channels. No HiDef, but at our age, who can see the TV, even it it IS the biggest thing in the living room? It's not a problem, and SO much cheaper. (We can't get any other service where we live in.)

Basic is what I get, $38, and I rarely watch anything but Koce or Kcet. $200 sounds insane !

Used to do this quarterly. Finally realized we were paying over $100 for crap reality TV, infomercials and home shopping and a zillion other things just to catch 1-2 programs we can stream online for free. Cut the cord...if you have Cox Internet, you still get the networks (most in HD) over the same bandwidth as the internet, so you can watch occasional special events like the Superbowl or awards shows while still removing a large time sink from your life.

This is timely, I've been thinking the same thing....we only watch our idiot box about an hour each evening. I have everything bundled and it runs nearly $200 per month...outrageous....I need to call and get it reduced, 'cause really who is the idiot here? Rrrggghhhh.

Almost every subscription company will reduce your rates when you complain, or threaten to cancel. Directv, Sirius have both reduced my subscription prices greatly after I had contacted them to cancel. I guess it does pay to complain.
