Howdy from Hope Ranch , been here for two weeks and no alarms ha ha. I did hear a funny noise yesterday, turns out it was just my wife every time she spotted a whale or a dolphin. I was a little slow with the camera but I just saw the big jet take off ( the one that was with Air Force 2 )

Do the SB cops have a grudge against the City of Santa Barbara? It seems like it. The streets and sidewalks of Santa Barbara are crawling with transient thugs. I cant go anywhere in SB without having to deal with aggressive vagrants. I don't call the city cops anymore. Either they're too soft or they don't care.

I really don't think that they do have a grudge. I have heard that there are law suits aganist the city and police and in many cases their hands are tied. I think that the police are doing the best that they can with what they have to deal with. I also think they are trying to keep the peace through all this. On the otter side of the fence I am poor white trash myself. If I did not have a place to live I might be stanking like a porta potty and writing these scanner reports from the Library. Rents are very high here and deposits are very hard to save for..Many people also have health issues..There are alot of angry, depressed, suicidal people out there if you were in their place would you drink? I think somehow somewhere there is a solution for all this scrap. I think that there should be a place for the homeless to go. They are all not just criminals. There are many vacant homes around here I don't think everyone is moving to a better place or neighborhood, some people are still losing their homes, jobs.. I have seen more than a few people out there that are not the regular homeless people we have had here for years.. The Grapes of Wrath By John Steinbeck. This is what I'm reminded of when I see many of the homeless. This is happening everywhere not just Santa Barbara some communities run the homeless out and they go somewhere else like here. That community runs them out the ACLU enters the picture and everything freezes. I believe that is the sitution here now. A place like Sun Burst Farms would be a nice healthy solution but there are LAWS...It's a bummer all around.

I respect your opinion and I thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. Santa Barbara is a beautiful, but expensive place to live. Not everyone is entitled to live within a stones throw of the ocean. If people want to live here, they have to pay their way like everyone else. That means paying taxes to keep Santa Barbara what it is. One cannot just park their rv at the beach and expect the rest of us who play by the rules to pick up the slack.
