Roger is right-on! We plunk a homeless shelter down off Milpas St, issue a call for out-of-area transients to become clients, and if that wasn't good enough, we release jail inmates to the shelter. The city gets sued by the ACLU every time they don't wash the homeless' (or grifter tourists) feet. That happened yesterday - the feet washing. The shelter director gives money to council campaigns, so he'll always be sure to get his way. Start questioning what's going on, people. You're being very much misled. Follow Roger.

I just want to say I like you Roger and I appreciate what you do. You have a big brain, a big heart and a lot of patience to sit and listen to the scanners day in and day out. You are a real asset to our community. I love you for keeping it real on so many levels. THANK YOU!!!!!

Simple: Don't give the gutter punks (and I am specifically referring to the young, healthy adults who think being homeless is "cool") a penny. If everyone just stopped giving away free money, the slackers would get jobs or move on. I'm going to make a cardboard sign to carry around with me that just says "Nope."

Of course, providing some care for the truly destitute homeless population is the human thing to do. But, get these punk panhandlers out of town! The cops aren't going to do anything unless they break the law, the city isn't going to do anything because, well, they just don't do anything. So, it is up to the citizens of our city to buck up and kick the bums out (again, not the "real" homeless but the lazy kids)! If they get aggressive, carry a bigger stick.

I agree with you too Roger, and the posters are all right on. You can't help someone that doesn't want help and the young punks who think it is cool to be homeless and lawless that beg and intimidate downtown are the problem. Don't give them a penny, even if they have a cute dog or are playing an instrument and especially not if they are pushy for it! Helping disabled and infirm people is another story and I support that but sadly we have a lot of scum on our streets and the police don't know what to do about it because our city counsel seems to think that it's great. It's not great, it creates a health and safety hazard and eventually the tourists will learn how gross it is in downtown SB as well. It will cost our fair city dearly if we continue to not just allow, but to cater to, this element. Shame on our city! :(

I saw a story on the LA news about panhandlers at off ramps, and these people ( depending if they had a dog or a kid with them ) make 400 - 700 a day then they let there friend use there dog or there partner take there kid to a different ramp to work !! I don't fill bad saying NO to panhandlers !!

Roger,

I have a proposition for you.

Get out in front of Trader Joe's with a sign reading "Roger Code Red." and start asking for money.

When I see you there, I'll donate $10 and ask from you a fee of one percent of what you collect during the week.

This should be a great deal for both of us.

You'll make $297 each week and I'll collect $3.

You're willing to back up your mouth with action aren't you?

Yes I am but I don't panhandle. I have enough money to live on therefore I don't need to ask for money..
