COMMENT 245247 helpful negative off topic

Good morning, seemed like a quiet New Year, just how I like it. Most everyone seemed to keep the DUI's down and the gun play at a minimal. As for guns, the new law effective on the 1st makes it illegal to carry a loaded handgun on your hip in public. Kind of BS in my opinion as CA is trying to take your right to have and carry arms away. I have, or rather, had a permit to carry an unconcealed Glock on my waist. I only carried it in big cities, to protect my self, and as an deterrent from being mugged or a victim, my girlfriend does the same. I also carry a gun on extended backpacking trips for solely survival. Anyone carrying a gun on their hip is probably not a criminal, if so they would conceal it. People in our local gun clubs are saying they are going to start carrying rifles and shotguns instead. Would be more scary to the public walking into a store with a man who has a permit carrying a rifle versus a handgun on hip, just my opinion.

What is scary about it 262? Respectable citizens with no felonies have a right to carry a loaded firearm. Go to Texas, Oregon, Washington, and it is very prevalent for people to walk around with loaded handguns on their belt. Next they are going to want to take your guns, someone in this democratic state needs to step up and fight this in congress. We have the highest prison rate in the US, mostly from drugs and felons with guns. I see nothing wrong with carrying a firearm, I would rather protect myself than be a victim.
