Exactly right 345. More eyes in the sky. After all, EVERYONE's a possible terrorist nowadays thanks to the DHS.

I believe Department of Corporateland Security might be more accurate, but in any event the eye in the sky may be short lived. It looks as though the proliferation of space junk will render low orbit useless in the near very future.

Because Vandenburg is the only place on the west coast that can launch into a polar orbit, this satellite will be a wonderful tool for climate studies.

Congratulations to the Santa Barbara Remote Sensing (SBRS) team that designed and built the the principal instrument (VIIRS) on the NPP spacecraft that will be used for weather forecasting and earth resource and climate studies. Some of that team were fortunate to be at Vandenberg early Friday morning to watch the successful launch. (SBRS, formerly part of Raytheon in Goleta, was relocated to El Segundo a couple of years ago.)
