I was secretly hoping to see a picture of some yogurt. Possibly some pearls. Love these assignments that can go off sideways as well as be literal.

OK, cultural and cultured are different, so maybe I went a little more sideways than usual :->

In the jar is a longitudinal section of an orchid seed pod that I was preparing and preserving in ethanol as part of a talk about culturing orchids. According to the lid, it's also "medium spicy!"

Thanks for the interesting explanation, Colin. It kind of looked like a squid to me.

@JOJOFLYS, we saw David as we were walking to the Sam Adams brewery in Boston. The outdoor area of the iron works shop had many other very cool sculptures, all made of scrap metal, including a beautiful life-size horse. A very serendipitous find.

Santa Barbarite, that's what we thought when we saw that book in the bookstore.

I actually wondered if the orchid seed pod was a leech. And I loved the Homer "signed" edition. OBLIVIAEX: I SO wish I had a bit of sourdough culture to photograph. Great minds...
