Good story/travelog on the culture of mid-America. It reminds me of when I lived in Wisconsin.

We challenge you to visit the OTHER major (and better) university and town in Michigan--East Lansing--the home of Michigan State University. Our Spartans crush those U of M Wolverines. There, you'll experience a beautiful campus of green acres with the Red Cedar River running through vs. the concrete jungle of A squared (our nickname for Ann Arbor). GO GREEN!

ELKAY I was happy to see your comment, as I'm a native Lansing-ite, and later a Spartan Village resident.

As much as I think Ann Arbor is a fantastic city and U of M a great university, I was wishing the jump to Midland hadn't overlooked Michigan State University, its beautiful campus, and of course, the Spartans!!

Just the same glad to read about the visit to Michigan...hope they get to travel north of Midland - there's some beautiful country in northern Michigan!

Y'all: McSeas's son-in-law went to college at Mich. State and I have no doubt it's a fine school and city. Just couldn't see it all.
Good you wrote in. I even like the name East Lansing, although I hated it when the Spartans played UCLA some years ago in titanic football.
thanks,
McSea

Moo, moo, MSC! Good old Ann Arbor for me ... I revisited the dear home-town and that splendid campus a couple of Octobers ago, after 50 years away, and found it just as beautiful though a lot bigger than memory served me. I was there for a home-game, and for a trip to the old cider mill in Dexter, for warm cinnamon donuts and that autumn nectar, fresh-pressed cider. Ah, nostalgia ...
