I saw on E News yesterday that kim kardashian's guests have been told to park at the montecito country club, and that the wedding is probably at a private estate somewhere nearby.

I confirmed yesterday after several conversations with some of my friends here in SB that none of us give a rip.

She is not a celebrity....what has she done to deserve this title? She is a spoiled rich brat who thinks everybody cares, when most people I know could care less. Let's leave the celebrity status for those who have actually done something to deserve it!

203623 - You can debate her lack accomplishments all you want (and I will agree with probably all of them), but there's no denying, she is most definitely a celebrity. She's famous, she's well known - That is the definition of a celebrity!

When I look at this piece all I think is this: Although I am certainly no expert on all that Mr. Warner has done from what I've seen of the San Ysidro Ranch and the Biltmore I wish he were the person to resurrect the Miramar.

As long as she pays her bills, it brings business and prosperity to our community. She should be welcomed here, unlike certain other 'celebrities.'

hope this 'estate' has the proper permits to host such an event. Residentially zoned? Is this allowed? Doubt it.

She is the daughter of OJs lawyer. You would think with that kind of background she would be ashamed. She doesn't have any skills besides being a celebutante. She should get a job.

You can host a party at your house/estate any time you want. We threw a wedding at our small house for about 50 people for a family member a few year ago. If you are renting it out regularly and not using it as a primary residence, that's when zoning and collection of bed taxes becomes an issue. All those houses available on VRBO fall in that category and the County should be going after them for zoning and bed taxes. But the reality is that most of these glitterati events we are talking about are held in second homes of the rich and famous and they are on rare occasions lent out or rented for events such as this. It's quiet and it's infrequent. You can't stop it. She is a celebrity yes, since she is famous. She is most definitely NOT an actress. And, like most locals, I don't give a rat's behind about the whole deal.

I got married at the Biltmore (pre-Ty Warner, thankfully) and it was absolutely lovely. I wouldn't have changed any second of it. No, I'm not rich or famous, and no, I'm not a Kardashian fan. But if she's getting married there then I wish her as lovely a wedding and happy a marriage as we two lowly locals have had.

BE INFORMED: The Planning Commission is ready to pass an amendment to the ordinance for Temporary Use of Property for Events that would effectively make it unattainable (or cost prohibitive) to rent a private estate for an event, wedding or corporate dinner with more than 25 attendees. This would require the HOMEOWNER to apply for a Minor Conditional Use Permit (MCUP) to operate as a commercial location that is hosting an event. While the initial permit itself is “only” $5,000.00 dollars, one could easily spend five or six figures. There are extensive site plan requirements, and a litany of other time consuming and expensive requirements to meet the required standards. Pulling a MCUP one needs to allow at least 120 days in the best-case scenario. Many events are planned in their entirety with less time than this. Get involved now! Let your voice be heard before or at the October 12 Planning Commission meeting IN SANTA MARIA!

Heather Locklear married her first husband...Tommy some-body or other...the rock star. I was getting my hair done in the salon--this was back in the '80's when the Biltmore was elegant but not unaffordable. We in the salon watched through the open windows into the garden beyond where the ceremony was held.

That's right, the County has been battling one property owner for years because he (a Santa Barbara Realtor) has turned his property into a COMMERCIAL wedding venue. No bed taxes, no permits, lot's of ANGRY neighbors! The county is trying to stop this insensitive and unscrupulous person who's rental use destroys the neighborhood and its bucolic atmosphere. Imagine huge weddings on your street every weekend? Cars, trucks, buses, bands, drunks, lights, trash, etc. as the new norm in your formally quiet and picturesque block. Classic Party Rental (nat'l company) has spearheaded the resistance and is pushing the county to eliminate or reduce the existing restrictions preventing commercial uses on residential properties. Their self-interest is to use your neighborhood for the beer keg and rock band crowd. SAVE SB FROM THESE SELF-SERVING COMMERCIAL INTERESTS!

We were driving up Sycamore Canyon yesterday (8/18/11) around 1 pm, and there was one security guard dressed in black posted at each gate of the estate. Some of them looked pretty bored, lol. We didn't know the wedding location at the time, but when we saw the guards, we figured this place was probably it.
