Nice to see this post - had a lovely picnic and walked the trail with a friend on Thursday afternoon. Took me back to my Santa Barbara childhood days.

There's a bench dedicated to my first husband near the playground area. Noel Young lived in Mission Canyon for 50 years and loved it.

I love this little spot - perfect place to escape on a hot day or see the creek raging during a deluge.

How's the poison oak level? I was up the trail from Tucker's Grove and it was EVERYWHERE.

I remember Noel Young, or Leon Elder a the case may be. And Rocky Nook is a favorite of mine -- for years!

I have been to this park but had not realized it was 19 acres in size ! which makes me think I need to take the boys for more exploring. They did recently show me a place under the bridge that has a very cool rope swing that you can swing out on over the creek and back - fun :)

Truly a special park . . . the printer Noel Young? That takes me back to the days of the Unicorn Press!

I didn't realize Rocky Nook was 19 acres either. It's a beautiful park, thank God it's been left basically left alone to be the natural beauty it is. Noel Young! Haven't thought of him in ages. I met him when I lived down in L.A. and was working as a publisher's rep. Capra Press put out some interesting books, and he was quite a card.
