The Assistance League Thrift store is one of the best places to shop, very nice merchandise, clean and well displayed. In probably 1948 or 49 I danced with Jose Manero's group of Spanish dancers at Hillside House, a fundraiser no doubt organized by the Assistance League. The child actress (about my age then), Margaret O'Brien, was there with her mother.

The AL thrift store is the best bargain in town. Clean, quality items at a low price. Save your paper and plastic bags for them. They sometimes run short now that many people take their own bags to grocery stores.
