The Mercado at De La Guerra Plaza -- but get there early in the week. It gets skanky as the week wears on.

The best part of fiesta for me is the day I leave town for it's duration.

Fiesta is great and Im a 3rd Gen Local. Im not talking about the bars on State Street, But all the great Mercados including Guadalupe. The Mariachi Festival on Saturday night at the bowl although not an official event is fantastic. Noches de Ronda at the courthouse makes for a very nice evening. I remember my mom pushing all us kids in the Childrens parade with very fond memories. I love the locals who choose to leave town during this time, it rids the town of thier negative energy. Viva La Fiesta !!!!!

I love the excuse to wear glow sticks all over my body and to crack messy eggs on my kids heads.

Noches de Ronda! Get there early to put out your blanket and bring a picnic dinner. Great free entertainment on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evening. Warm up entertainers from 7:30-8:00. Show often lasts until 10:30.

Why feel badly for the Chumash? They are one of the biggest sponsors for Fiesta. Shrimp Cocktail at the Masons Booth in De la Guerra!!!!!

I don`t feel badly for the casino Chumash no, they are sell-outs to Native culture. I feel for the Chumash who live in SB,who keep the ceremonies sacred, but get reminded every year of the decimation of their world. Tha casino is a "proud sponsor" of Fiesta! When are we gonna celebrate 911 as a holiday? Or the Holocaust,Vietnam,or like the Iraqi`s...."American arrival day",Cold Springs Bridge day? The Spanish arrivals here were Serial Child Rapists... Do you really want to celebrate that?...or do you just need ANY reason to drink?..

Oh for God's sake get off the soap box. Get a new tune or something. It's over and. No amount of remorse or contrition is going to change the past. History is full of horror and the present and future will be too.

To SBLAX who wrote about the grammical error in El Presidente or La Presidente, there is none. El can be either male or female while La is more feminine. I should know as I was the first woman to use La Presidente and I researched this extensively!
