Haha, I know a guy that does this exact same thing. At first his story sounds credible but when someone else one-ups him, then he has to one-up them also and then the story just becomes ridiculous. I'm not sure why he is like this, probably something that he developed as a child needing to be better than others or at least perceived that way.

Email the photos to your friends -- except to the one who likes to brag. They'll bring up the topic at the "girls' night out." When the one-upper says she didn't get the email, you can always say "Wow, I thought I sent you one."

Ask her for details; lots and lots of details! When she says, "oh, I have great pictures from my safari," you respond with, "I'd like to see them! When did you go? What places did you visit? What company did you use? I'm interested in doing that, so I'd like as much information as possible!" Don't let her dismiss the pictures either, keep after it. "What happened to those safari pictures? I still want to see them!" Eventually, she'll probably get tired of having to come up so many details and she'll just not mention anything! :)

Two approaches: 1. Direct: "Do you realize that you always have to one-up whatever I say? Why do you think you do that?" 2. Humor: Respond to whatever she says with a made-up, over-the-top amazing story. Either way, she's eventually get the point, and you'll get your point across.

Invite her over to watch Penelope skits that are on saturday night live. You can youtube it...snl penelope skits. If she doesnt get the point, at least you will be able to laugh!

What an absolute waste of time,this game of one upmanship. For every Trump there will be a Jobs,and then in turn a Saudi King and so on, why bother for Petes sake?
