They have an equipment loan closet that got me through knee surgery without my having to buy crutches. As their website blurb says, "The Loan Closet is a free community resource unique to VNHC where you may borrow basic medical equipment such as wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, canes and bathroom safety items. The Loan Closet has been in operation since 1951 and is completely supported through private contributions, often from people who have benefitted from this service." Believe me, when you can barely hobble, much less drive down to Oxnard to buy crutches at your insurance companies "preferred provider", the loan closet is a godsend.
