No doubt about it - this is a BAD intersection. Considering the hundreds of cyclists who use this each week to access Armour Ranch Road & Happy Canyon, would it be better to have a traffic light system here vs a roundabout?

You realize of course that Caltrans already has a plan for this intersection, and this public meeting is just a fig leaf so they can say they had community involvement.

Big Roundabout would be sweet. Bike paths can have overcrossings outside the circle or over the top.

A roundabout would be horrible! I live on the 154 aporox 3 mi from this intersection. We need a full four way stop similar to the one at Edison/Baseline. I want to slow people down.

Caltrans is planning to build the roundabout regardless. (sorry, but they are NOT very safe for bicycles) Their crafted press release about roundabouts put put out in the media just last week was a prelude to springing this one. The "public meeting" is just going through the motions as they always do, like they did on the Cold springs bridge suicide fence barrier. Caltrans recently spent a lot of taxpayer money below that intersection creating a very long left turn lane in large part because of casino traffic from the south. The question the taxpayers should be asking is how much money did the Chumash casino, (that pays no property taxes, sales taxes, state income taxes, corporate taxes, etc.) contributed to recent 154 improvements for their benefit and how much are they contributiing to this multimillion dollar intersection improvement at 154 and 246?

Screw a roundabout, stop signs or signals. The best solution, other than the casino going bust (ha), would be a half-elevated transition ramp from 154 northbound to 246 westbound, with 154 half-below-grade to make the half-elevated ramp possible. Existing transitions from southbound 154 to westbound 246, and from eastbound 246 to southbound 154, could remain with minimal changes. As for Armour Ranch Rd. east of the state highways intersection, given its low traffic volumes, its intersection with Hwy. 154 could be relocated either north or south of the 154-246 intersection, or other transitions could be included at its current location. A roundabout at highway approach speeds would be murderous-suicidal, and a full stop or signalized intersection wouldn't be much better.

Signals please !!! A roundabout is suicide (but this might save the Cold Spring bridge).
