Thanks, Jill, for the proper name, I'd never heard it. In 1961 my husband dug some up for me (he was in the Forest Service, working on a trail). We grew them for years but called them Tiger Lilies. DON'T anyone dig them up now; those were different times and we didn't have the same eviornmental respect we've learned to embrace.

Native plants are well adapted to fire, and their growth, health, and ubiquity are stimulated by fire. These photos are very attractive evidence of this. Thank you Jill! Humboldt Lillies can be purchased through the numerous local native plant nurseries.

Not to quibble, but the Jesusita fire was in May 2009, not February 2010.
