David, what kind of camera and lens do you use? The shots are spectacular.

Great! It's hard work being a pelican and the failure-to-catch rate of the juveniles, the ones that are all brown and are just beginning to be seen on the mainland beaches, is about 9 or 10-1. And then there are the waiting gulls ready to snatch the fish from the pouch. ... And as for any fishermen, are there enough fish?

Thanks for the photos and I, too, would like to know what lens?

Hi,

Thanks for the kind words on the photos.

I used a 300mm lens, shooting at 1/2000sec, f/5.6, ISO 200 at high resolution setting with my Canon T2i.

Beautiful shots, Dave! I love watching pelicans.

Is that the 300mm f/4L lens?

Thanks Daryl.

I used the Canon Zoom Lens EF 75-300mm 1:4-5.6 and shot at 300mm.

I *love* watching pelicans plunge. They look so funny, but then s-t-r-e-t-c-h for the entry, wings folded way back, and create almost no splash. This captured that goofy wonderfulness perfectly. Thanks!

I've never had the chance to watch pelicans dive, this looks great!
