Why not go out to ASAP and get him another companion. A mature cat who would show gratitude to get out of a cage and have a lving home and a "sibling."

Adopting a new friend for Nemo is a lovely idea... but first, I completely understand that you all have to mourn for Plumbous... and of course, will Nemo be open to a new friend? My best to you all!

OP here. We have a complicated cat dynamic. Our other cat is Lucha (former Cat of the Week), now age 6, who was a year old when we got him from VIVA. He is a terrible bully and has nervous Nemo thoroughly cowed. We think introducing another adult cat into the mix might make matters worse, so we are contemplating a kitten and hoping it will become a playmate or at least a distraction -- under close supervision of course. Thanks everyone for your thoughts.
