Nice images, John. I really like that angle for the Cachuma dam. If you get back there, grab some more shots of the lake.

Thanks TB, and I sure hope to get more shots of the lake. Plus all the waterfalls on both sides of the front range, many of which only run briefly after heavy rains. The light was fading, so many of my pix from this evening didn't come out well but hopefully you can get at least some sense of how incredibly beautiful it was. What a place we live, eh? Oh, it was 40F at the ridge line so the snow might still look good tomorrow when there's likely to be clearer air. I'm excited to have another look! :)

Had too many errands to do today, so no time to fly. But every time I looked at that beautiful sky I hoped you were up there. Somebody has to do it!

JoJo, we wondered if that was your car at the airport but saw Da chafing at her tiedowns so knew you were elsewhere. Maybe tomorrow? :) I appreciate the kind words of encouragement, because it would be so fun to bring ALL of our town along to see how beautiful we look from a little ways up. Oh, if only the photos could show it!

That second image is amazing! The water looks metalic and the mountains and sky seem to be painted.

Gorgeous pictures! The fading light really added to them, I think, making the scenes look almost surreal.

I'm happy that people are enjoying these pix, because it adds so much to the fun of sharing them! :) I don't know if anyone's still reading this, but I've been thinking about trying to catalog all the major falls I've discovered in the SY range between Gaviota and Montecito (despite looking, for some reason I've not found any major falls much beyond Montecito). One of my favs that nobody seems to have been to on foot is this one far back in a canyon on the North slope. I've seen Nojoqui but not captured a decent photo of it. Anyway, it would help greatly if I had gps coordinates for all the known falls. That way I could tag pix of each, and focus on getting coordinates for the additional ones I find. I could also get aerials to supplement satellite and topo maps to help hikers find the unknown waterfalls. We could then make up an Edhat post of the collection, including any ground-level pix people have. Is anyone interested?

I would love to see more photos of waterfalls, particularly the seasonal ones. We don't have many that flow year round, and I think I've hiked to most of them. Some of the new cameras have a GPS feature to them....would that work?

Oh, forgot to ask, where is a general location for the linked waterfall photo?

Aquaholic, I'm excited that you're interested! I've just sent Ed a puddle pic from downtown this evening, and mentioned again the notion of a collaboration. If we can pull together an initial list, we could make it into an Edhat post and perhaps more people would get involved.
