Well this is an unexpected surprise. Thank you Edhat. Thank you also, Peter O for your nice comment (although I prefer Gabriele to "Gabby").

The "clutter" came after my husbands's unexpected death some time ago. He was a great (unorganized) collector of all sorts of things to use in his art, and was half of Eyes in the Sky until his death. I and our sons are having a very hard time going through his things, as each item holds memories, and he was so beloved by us.

In any case, yes, the birds always come first. In late March our program relocated from my home to a new beautiful aviary at the SB Museum of Natural History. I expect I can now find more time at home to tackle some of the "clutter" (in the eyes of the beholder) and the yard. Sigh.

Jim and I ran our rehabilitation/wildlife education programs from our rented residence for 20 years. This was like having an open house 7 days a week.

Gabriele

My daughter and grandson lived by Gabrielle's home for years. Grandson was always so fascinated by all the wonderful 'things' and birds she and her husband had at their home. I'll be happy to share this post with them. Thank you for giving him such wonderful memories as he grew up.

Dearest Gabrielle...
Forgive me for the name foe-paw....
I love you & what you stand for...
Yes, the "clutter" I saw was recognised as your "history" & is greatly respected it.
I did`nt want to mention your loss, but as with the strength only woman possess, you were unstoppable.
Queme [thank you] from the Chumash....Peter.

Dear Edhat Readers,

I would like to take this special opportunity to invite you and your family or friends to come and visit us at our new site at the SB Museum of Natural History.

Our five birds - Max (Great horned owl), Ivan (Red-tailed hawk), Kisa (Peregrine falcon), Kachina (American kestrel), and Tecolita (Western screech owl), are available to view every day between 2 and 4 PM. During this time we bring them outside for outdoor time, exercise, and close-up interactions with visitors.

All of our birds can no longer survive in the wild due to conflicts with human activities.

Our new aviary is situated behind the MacVeagh House, at the end of the Museum's parking lot on the left.

There is no entry fee for visiting our aviary - as long as you park at end of the parking lot, and walk down the driveway on the left to visit us.

If you are there to visit the Museum, you can find us by walking past the Butterfly Exhibit - along the creek trail - to the Museum's Backyard.

It's a beautiful setting, and all of us, (especially the birds) love our new space. This project has been in the works for seven years.

I wish to thank the many community members that contributed in so many ways to help make this happen.

Recently I too became acquainted with Gabrielle and "her" birds, visited with her at her home and now at the new place by the Museum of Natural History.
She truly is a wonder, and so are the birds, each one with his/her own personality and beauty. I love her , honor and respect the birds, as well as all the care given each and all.
