I could be totally wrong, but my gut feeling (pun intended) is that this is more like a franchise in the making than a focus on real BBQ. You know, a place that spends more money and effort on their logo designs than the food itself. The pictures and descriptions remind me more of an Applebees rather than something like Phillips on Leimert Blvd in the Jefferson Park area of LA. I'm guessing it will probably become a popular watering hole with decent food rather than a "real" BBQ rib place. I'd like to see a genuine "straight up" BBQ place open in SB someday.

How can anyone talk about BBQ and not mention pork? If we are talking franchise, bring down Mo's from Pismo puleez. Mo's knows BBQ, but he don't know fish and he don't know chowda.

Killer B's is the ONLY barbecue place in the entire South County that serves REAL BBQ that stands on its own without having to slather sauce on it to get any flavor at all. There hasn't been a decent barbecue joint here since Buck's Barbecue on the Mesa a few decades ago. Until now. Welcome, Killer B! We need you!

Hmmm. Killer Bs is already the name of a competitive BBQ team that is pretty well known in the BBQ world. Their BBQ is pretty amazing. http://m.chronicle.augusta.com/things-do/applause/2010-05-26/killer-bs-plan-slow-cook-competition Yep, BBQ is taken pretty seriously in some parts of the country http://www.bbq-brethren.com/forum/ Anyway, not sure if this place is using Jim and Jan Burg's name on purpose. Or maybe they didn't do a lot of market research. Nonetheless I wish them success. My only question is whether it's a sports bar or a BBQ place. It seems a bit confused about its identity right now. I suppose it will define itself eventually depending on what sells most, the food or the drink (and those big TVs all over the place.)

Has anyone tried "The Cowboy Way" Bar B Que place in Solvang on Alisal Road in Fredericks Court? Rumor has it that it is really good. Open daily except Tuesday.

What's the happy hour time? It's nowhere to be found on their site. btw restaurants, I know flash sites are industry-standard for y'all, but it would be really great if you'd join the rest of us in 2011. Flash sites are so 2001. ;)

@ tracey, no kidding. I'm guessing plenty-o folks checking a site out before happy hour are on iOS dee-vices. You just move on. They need to catch up with the times (and their market).

No Way Cowboy Way-it is officially a tourist spot-no local would return again. Bad service-food is at best mediocre and that is being kind.

Lady, I agree so much with your post... we did the same with the small plates. I was pleasantly surprised with the food and the service. It was an extremely crowded 3pm rush on a Saturday afternoon. We also are looking forward to going back to try more! Yup, Tracey... agreee and agree! I always pass on Flash sites. (I hope they read this thread!)
