Nice. Where were they found? I am guessing that the bright yellow is cottonwood (Alisal Rd?), the narrow leaves are Willow, and the picture #2 Maple?

I think pic 3 is a Ginkgo?? Beautiful! And I agree, I love living in Goleta for many reasons - the beautiful trees are one of them! :-)

Have you seen the awesome red (fall color) of the Chinese
Pistache. This parkway tree is becoming very popular. The
colors range from green, yellow, orange and red. Much like
the Liquid Amber.

Come to Carpinteria. We have some spectacular color, quality rather than quantity though. Your pictures are wonderful and they show that some of our best color is from fruit trees. Persimmon is one of the best. Also any stone fruit (peach, apricot). (Go buy your trees now so you can see what color their fall foliage is).

The photos were taken in my home town, beautiful Carpinteria, but could be anywhere in the South Coast. The leaves are (a) nectarine, (b) maple, (c) gingko, and (d) nectarine again.

I've heard of the Chinese Pistache. Take a photo and share it with us.

Thanks for the kind words.

In response to your suggestion, I am sending a photo of the Chinese Pistache taken in Paso Robles where it is on the city's Master Tree List...these are almost blinding in color, and the photo hardly does it justice, but they certainly make their presence known even before full growth.

On Concha Loma Drive in Carpinteria is a huge Ginko, all bright yellow with a carpet of yellow leaves on the ground. Simply magnificent! It must be quite old as Ginkos are very slow growers, mine is 16 yrs and about 6ft high.

Comment 127292....that's the tree I photographed on Concha Loma Drive. I'm guessing it's 30 feet tall, maybe more. And it's color is jaw-dropping right now. Good job identifying the exact tree.

Don't neglect the poison oak! It's one of the brightest.

Is it my faulty memory or is this the latest autumn we've had? Seems like the fall color is just getting to its peak, and next week will be winter solstice.

We have two wisterias that usually begin to drop their leaves at the end of August, and they are just losing them now. Lovely golden leaves, dropping all at once.
