Sounds great, all of it! Not having the money to eat at restaurants (or at good restaurants like Ca Dario!) I wish there were recipes --- the pasta with clams, sausage and garlic! sounds wonderful. (I note there are a few recipes on the epicureSB web site.

359P, I have found great recipes, just by exploring online recipe sites. As long as you have a feel for cooking and ingredients, you can search and find really good recipe ideas!

I loved Ca'Dario, but the restaurant tried to bill me $50 for canceling a reservation I never made. They dummied up an email to look like it had come through OpenTable. Have never gone back, even though they apologized and said it was a "joke." Yeah...some joke.

LJ this is one review of yours I'm excited to have read. BUMMER on me for not looking further into the Epicure ads here on Edhat. GOOD on you for trying the squid ink pasta! I've heard of it and added it to my mental "must try once in my lifetime" list. Thanks much for sharing your experience with Edhatters like myself.

119472: Exactly... small portions of fancy food that cost alot are not my idea of a good time when I'm hungry either, although I'd probably go for something less heart-lethal than what you suggested on a regular basis. Gotta say though, now I'm hungry for one of those burgers...

I was very interested in reading the article about Ca'Dario. I took my son there this summer for lunch as a special occasion. I had memories of loving their food when they opened. We probably spent $50. We sent back the bolognese my son ordered. It had a distinct moldy taste... something was off in it. The dessert we ordered - a chocolate torte - had freezer burn and just tasted like it had been sitting in the fridge for a week. It was a huge disappointment and I figured I'd never return.

Now I wish I'd paid more attention to the Epicure SB list of events this year. Thanks for sharing the experience of eating the squid ink pasta. I'm not sure I'd have been willing to order it. But I think it's a brilliant observation to consider the color of your clothing when you choose your menu options. It's sort of like only wearing clothes the color of your dog (or cat). I liked reading your review. I feel like I've enjoyed the meal, without the caloric impact.

NancyO and Z28 - I think the events calendar was organized differently this year. Last year I used the daily calendar posted on the Indy and felt that worked really well. It seemed that this year's calendar contained more specially created events and these types of events cost more, which doesn't surprise me given the extra effort put into them. It does make me pause to think about whether I can afford to go to them. But last year seemed to combine more events around town that were already happening, regardless of it being "Epicure" month, like something at First Thursday, and these tended to be easier to make the time and money available for. Plus, there was naturally more awareness of them. I really like the concept of Epicure SB and attending just 2-3 of the events was quite satisfying. I learn something new every time. Looking forward to next year!
