The best! Adorable and sweet natured. A wise choice. You are lucky and clearly he is too. Have many happy years together.

Update: Luke's owner here. After much neighborhood speculation about his breed, we did a DNA test on him. It turns out he is about 75% Argentinian Mastiff (or Dogo Argentino). Great breed!

I did not know we could get DNA testing for checking a breed. The little pregnant dog abandoned and tied at my gate had six very different looking pups. All beautiful but completely different in size, build and personalities.

So glad Luke found you and vice versa! Seems like you were paid back for your generous gift of fostering, with the gift of Luke! Here's a cool poem for you: http://writersalmanac.publicradio.org/index.php? date=2010/06/05

What a handsome, happy looking lad. I have my own pack of 2, everyone older, plus a foster they gets adopted at some point. To be able to have the animals with us in our homes is truly a blessing. Fostering helps more dogs to be rescues from shelters & to not be in the kennel environment till they get a new home. Evaluating their personalities facilitates the animals placement into their new home too. Fostering can be a trial period for a person looking to adopt just the right animal. Luke's Argentinian mastiff ancestry was well worth the DNA test. What was the other 25%?

I am one of the volunteers at DAWG who helped rescue and place Duke. We don't always get the follow up. He was an incredible dog, I'm so happy he ended up with such a happy home. Just whata we want for all our pups. There are problems with the DNA test because they don't have stats on all the breeds, so they end up choosing the next closest. My guess at DAWG was Great Dane.

Oops - Typo, should be "Luke" not "Duke". He always struck me as royalty.
