There's somethiing about that buffalo picture -- if you crop out the longhorn and leave buffalo, California oak tree, and fence, it's as evocative and sad as the last few frames of "Unforgiven." I can hear that guitar, even with the cow left in. BTW: We used to look at the longhorn herd in Happy Canyon and wonder why some of the horns pointed the wrong way. Anybody got an answer?

I wonder if they sell fertilized eggs there. Worth checking into. I have a male and have read that it is the male that sits on the egg in a hole. Our big guy has had his hole for a long time.

I rode ostriches during the 1962 & 63 Channel City horse shows. A call was out for volunteers for the "intermission" during the evening performances. They had a leather strap around the chest and back, to grab hold. The ring stewards held the birds while we jumped on from the back. Off and running, the only way to dismount was slide off the backend. I have a 2nd place ribbon from the ostrich race.
